The Afghan Ziegler rug is inspired by classic Persian rugs but with a more contemporary touch. It takes its name from the historic Swiss-British design company Ziegler & Co., which in the 19th century commissioned the creation of rugs designed to better suit the Western tastes of the time. The term "Asla" is not widely documented, but it could refer to a particular collection or a specific variant of Ziegler rugs, perhaps made in Afghanistan, where many rugs in this style are produced today.
